Search and rescue insurance

Is any one here familiar with search and rescue insurance?
I bought a Garmin inreach last year, during setup I added SAR insurance for $25/year. It's time to renew.
Are the found and rescued billed for services? Gallatin or anywhere?
Is SAR insurance worth the cost?
Is it actually beneficial?
Any insight is welcomed!

I believe that the SAR response is free in Gallatin, but the ambulance or helicopter ride very likely isn't. It would be interesting to see specifically what SAR insurance covers.

Interested to see what this covers, Colorado had a SAR insurance for just a few bucks a year.

Gallatin County SAR is free of charge, even a heli ride.
But if you are transferred to a life flight, or the ambulance, that’s likely a different story, I’m not positive when the meter starts running.
