took the deposit back today :frown:

we drove an automatic yesterday and although the kids went bananas for it and actively campaigned for it, it was no better for her than the manual. Did not help that I lost sight of a whole vehicle while trying to back out of the dealer lot  Bottom line is she can list 4 places she parks weekly where the FJ would be a nightmare. She told me I could sell my 80 and get an FJ if I want :o

Not the vehicle's fault, just not suited for what she decided she wanted. We look to be going in a whole other direction and saving a lot of dough which is not bad since I can use it to build my 80 :D. The FJ remains an excellent buy imho.

I planned to wait for all the dust to settle before I purchased my FJ say in
about a year. That was until I sat in one. I couldn't agree more with your wife.
Terrible visibility. Maybe in a year there will be a removeable hardtop? A
big moonroof could also open it up. I'm in a holding pattern to see what
Toyota's next move with the FJ is.

They need to give you more leg room in the back seat. That's a major turn off for me since i am 6'3. Heck there's more room in the back seat of my FJ62 then the FJ.

Test drove one today

I test drove one in Milwaukee today. It was nice, quick off the line, but I thought of it as a girly rig. It was very chunky, and above the glove box there was a big panel that was nothing........

The front bumper was 100% plastic. All of the doors were heavy, and closed nicely.

As far as blind spots, ya you need to be a side mirror driver, which I am, if not I can foresee accidents.

For 30k it seems reasonable, but ya I'll wait too. I also received a kick ass brochure, that is more like an offroad mag.

In the long run it'll be ALOT cheaper to keep my 62 and resto my 40.
Out of a scale of 10 , I give it a 7.5:beer:

You can always get a Toyota Tow Motor.
