Time to go engine shopping for the Mazda (linky: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=178390)

While I'd like to save money, I'd also like to do this only once. Got any tips on selecting 'the right' engine etc?

I've had a good relationship w/the shop for 7+ years and several older vehicles, so I'm not worried about them.

Thanks in advance,

Wowsa, $2500?? Trucks not worth that much... Thanks for the link though.

My uncle runs a shop in NJ. He's installed quite a few remans from ATK with good results.

But in this case you really need to ask the shop that's doing the work what THEY prefer to install. That way if something goes wrong they're more likely to stand behind a motor they recommended instead of a customer supplied part.

contact me if you need help on ATK engines. I run their special products section and
we do allot of performance engines as well as stock replacements. If you don't want to purchase a premium
priced engine with the big warranty, contact me for a special price. Discounts apply to all board members.
I am not trying to do a commercial, just help you out on my own time.

oh yea, welcome :flipoff2: (official Mud welcome) and thanx for the kind offer.

there's a vendor section if you want to tell your boss that you're on Mud again to 'serve your customers'. ;p

and dont buy a Marshall engine. i had one put in a grand am and even with baby ing the engine i had problems with pistons and rings they replaced the engine for free and just over one year later just after warranty i got a rod knocking again.

almost forgot to mention that the performance shop i bought it through doesnt stock them or recommend them anymore either.

The ATK engine should be at the shop w/core on it's way back. Scott returned my call right away, and was very knowledgeable about the engine.

Paid a bit more than I'd intended, but it's a 3yr no-fault unlimited mile warranty and included shipping both ways. I like the sound of 'no fault', what with me being blonde & all.

Shop's a little behind due to death in main dude's family, so I'm not pestering them about when it'll be done. Hoping to be driving it in a few weeks. Will report back when I have details.

Thanks for the input!!

Update

Wow, that's what a clean engine looks like... (picture to be inserted).

ATK provided great customer service.

As it turns out the cat was totally plugged, contributing to previous engine's demise. :frown:

The contracted shipper is kinda slow, so I'm still waiting on the core charge refund.

Next up: emissions test, new rubber on the ground, and some tunes.

I don't recall the "no-fault" on the ATK guideline... got a link?

That's what Scott told me anyway: I'll check again (and get copies of paperwork) when I check on core return next week. Shipper just picked it up Wens...

oh yeah, I'm digging the bunny, but not enuf to support world domination. Maybe if it was a dominatrix? :grinpimp:
