Recommend a shock to my cruiser LJ-70???

I already have decided to buy Coil Springs: KING-Spring

My cruiser is in daily use, trail ride, expedition, etc.


I would like to know your views and experiences with different shocks...

I forget what I paid,but I got a good deal at Malaga Suspension with the Dobinsons leaves.
You got the latest 4WD Action 138,it has a FZJ75 comp truck in the video

Yea colins pretty cool give me cheap as prices but i wanted tough dogs got them from a mate who works a wilkos
not sure which mag i last got i wtched the vid in it, it had a marlo/red vdj this fzj comptruck sounds sic as ,on carsales there is a bj73 with a 80 series 1fz-fe put in probly one of the only fzj73's in Aus


Lulo i got my big bore tough dog adjst this afternoon and will fit them on sunday and test them out and let you know how they go mate , my mate a the suspention shop says the coil front 7x series are the same size lenght etc as the 80 series they measured them but have a diff part number

FWIW, I put Rancho 5000s on in the spring, and they are too stiff, until you get into the real rough stuff.

I dont have EFS shocks but I have rear EFS springs. So far they are going good, they are made longer to suit the lift and longer shackles too which is good. They take the big hits relatively smoothly for leaves, small fast bumps though are still crap, maybe my new shocks will help. Bought a pair of terrain tammer shocks, just need to get the right sized shock bushes and they will be on!

no mate mostly tough dogs and king springs and one mate with dobs (they are really good) malaga springs


I put my new shockies in after work tonight and took them for a qiuck test off road im well impressed with them and they adjuster actually works so ive gained 100% improvment in the front end but am still lacking with comfort and ride quality etc in the rear with my sh1t rear shocks and leafs

Have you got thick leaves in the pack? You could probably keep the old ones by removing a few leaves,and if needed,have the remaining ones reset.
Although with all that,its probably cheaper to get new ones

im not to fussed about the rears anymore as its all going to get ripped out for my coils .still waiting on workshop space it killing me

EFS Gear.

EFS is not bad for the price. I look after 11 HZJ 75 that work on fraser island an they run 8 leaves +50 mm lift on the frount & 8+2 heavy leaves +50mm lift on rear, all greasble shakles. The shocks last about 2 years with that treatment of beach driving every day. Ian.

Using Old Man Emu

Hi Lulo,

I'm using 4 Old Man Emu + a steering absorber. The 4 springs are normally for much heavier LC (Long Base Ninja if I'm not wrong) This allows to get a 4" suspension lift and support the heavy PTO winch on front.

Of course the setting is quite tough but I only use it for off-road. However for off-road it provides to this LCII an excellent behavior off-road at any speed. Articulation is excellent as well.

If you're interested I can ask my friend who did the suspension lift the exact references of the springs and absorbers we used.

This has to be exytended because of the 4" (10cm) lift
