Anyone up for a little ride to the river? ...maybe run over some couches? loveseats? ottomans?

My junk is running - lets wheel!

Going fishing tomorrow AM, but PM is free.

Sunday afternoon better?

Can I ride along? I got my oilpan off today. My parts are on the way. Maybe she'll run again soon.

Nice to hear there is still someone breathing out there in cottonland.

I'll ride. Wife's truck is on street slicks so its out. What time are you planning on going? I've got a birthday party to go to at 6:30.

That was a great ride. You guys need to join in the fun.

Trail Report:

We entered the trails at the usual undisclosed location from Barry's neighborhood. First we traveled north to just short of the railroad tressle and low head dam. Then we turned back south and went all the way to I55 just north of the Stack.

Little of our time was on sand bars, some tight wooded trails with some rutts and mud, but most was on grassy trails on the bluff beside the river. The views were pretty good. Barry, Was that girl skinny dippin' over by the YMCA? You saw her before I did. I was watchin' the trail!

We met some pretty interesting and friendly people. Some were referred to Dr Abernathy as they were dentally challenged. One teenage guy on a 4-wheeler with a bikini clad girl clinging to his back offered the use of his full size Dodge for WHEN we got stuck. He was quick to add that his Dodge had a winch on it. We thanked him and laughed it off. At least nobody said "nice heep"!

The GunRunner performed very well and did not let us down.

Future rides may include further exploration of the west side of the river north of the Low-Head Dam. And maybe someday we will go ....... EastSide. Wear your colors.

Dang! I hate I missed the ride- I just checked in.

Last night around 9 p.m. Carrie, Max the Dog and I (after about 15 Bacardi and Cokes) travelled to the aforementioned and undisclosed location to represent the DirtySouth Cottonland Boys. We made it all the way down to the river, and I only managed to rip my roof rack and bumper end off. Anyone willing to go down after work and help me find it? Oh, I also smashed my tailpipe when I bottomed out for the 8th time.

I think we had fun. I did have Barry and Greg's numbers on speed dial, though.

I would be glad to come get you, except that my truck has no motor at the moment.

So a motor is no longer a motor if you remove the head?

Is a watch with a dead battery still a watch?

I probably shouldn't, but call me if you end up going and I might.

I am going to head down to the river after work (5:30). If anyone is interested in going, call me. I am not sure if I can get my muffler straightened out by then. I may go looking on foot, so if anyone wants to drive their truck, even better! The trails are pretty dry now.

I won't be checking email after around 4:30. 601-954-1141.

Found it! I parked up by the entrance and retraced my route on foot. It was barely sticking out of about 8 in. deep mud/clay.

When I got down to the entrance to the woods, I noticed another truck there. I proceeded in with my dog and when I got down towards the trail that goes down to the water this dude opened up with what sounded like a .45 pistol (and very close). It scared the crap out of me (I drew my own pistol and thought, for a second, that this nut was shooting at me because I thought I heard bullets in the trees). The person was shooting TOWARDS the woods off the beach. Max and I took off South immediately, and found my bumper piece along the way. As we were walking down the trail, the guy then pulled out a shotgun and started blasting away.

I walked back after the shooting subsided and found a ton of .40 cal cases and 12 guage shells. The prick didn't bother to clean up his area, either. It's that type of stuff that is going to get that area closed and patrolled, or get someone injured.

Barry, I didn't notice you called until I was walking back to the truck. I would have loved to have you along. Get your truck fixed!
