Anyone ever sandblast shake siding?
I've got cedar shake siding on my house that was painted 7-8 years ago . About 2 years ago, the prior owner powerwashed the siding and got too close, splitting some shakes and ruining an already poor paint job.
Scraping and sanding cedar shake doesn't appeal to me, especially since paint isn't going to last. I'm thinking of getting a cheap sandblaster and trying to sandblast back to bare wood so I can stain it. I've got to patch some areas anyway, so if I damage a few by blasting it's no big deal.
Anyone done this? Any reason not to try it?
On a related topic- any of the cheap (HF, Costco, etc) guns worth using? I know you get what you pay for, but I don't want to spend much for this experiment. I'm thinking $50 or less, maybe $75 if there's a significant jump in performance over the $50 guns.
