Well, finally found out what was causing the power steering to blow out (three times on the trip). The crank pulley was wobbling, the key had slipped. This had occured four years ago and I did a temporary fix. Now I've had a new key welded into the wallowed out crank. I had also asked for the pulley to be welded onto the crank but the folks in Montrose thought this would hold and save from having to torch pulley later if I ever need to get back in. My question is, should this be considered a temporary fix too? Will the welds hold or weaken over time due to the torque? I will put in a new engine before I replace crankshaft at this point.

Please refresh, the last time did you jb weld the key in place? 4 years ain't bad.
Welding or brazing the key in place would be a more than temporary fix.
I suppose my consern would be about how much heat was applied during the welding and a crack in the crankshaft developing later.
Heck it might last another 4 years afore ya gotta worry bout it!!! Or more!!!
Get a rabbits foot to hang from the rear view.
I wouldn't worry about it. But I did see an engine for $50 in the partz fer sale section. It was in the Denver area. That would be a smokin deal fer a fella needin a crank!!!!

Great to know you got it fixed and made it home safely!!!
