See you there this weekend. Look for the Blue 60 with the giant Maggiolina on top - hard to miss. I'll either be dropping down 395, or I'll go over from Bakersfield on Friday - depending on where I'm working.
hey surfpig me and my buddy dennis macintire (maybe you know him?) are planning on a few day camping trip in dv starting march 21 through march 26, possible destinations surprise canyon/panamint city, pleasant canyon, barker ranch, geologist cabin and/or china garden spring (and maybe more depending on suggestions). if youre interested in coming along in your 55 we would be glad to have you along.

Hey Bob,
I'm the guy that waved you over in S. Shore a while back, I was in the fzj80. A few weeks ago I spent a week in DV area, all over but didn't get into Saline Valley, just a bit over the south pass where the Hunter mtn road intersects.
Have a great time, any questions about that area please feel free to ask.
There is a good bulletin board at deathvalley.com, lots of up to date road reports, spring flow reports, etc...
There is gas at Panamint springs, but not at Scottys castle.
2-20-07 - that's the worst corrugated I've been on - ever, and that comes from 20 years of desert driving. I finally just did it - 50 mph, not 5. Nothing broke, but I did stop and wrap my Tequila in a jacket.
It rained all night Sunday (I was on Death Valley Road - so not sure if it rained at Saline). Snow at Saline Jnct. with DV Road.
There were probably 75-100 people at Saline. The Dunes-Saline road is easy - except for 3-small rock ledges south of the dunes. The Racetrack road up from Saline is easy.
I was very impressed with Saline and all the people there, even though I did not stick around for the party. Had a great 2-3 hour soak at the upper spring and great conversation with a bunch of people.
Gonna be going to DV in the end of April!
Im glad to hear that the lower springs are running again. I was sad to see last year they were dry!
That wash board is a NASTY motha. WORSE, I think is driving into the springs where there are the washouts you cant see till youre right on top of em!
Saline Valley is one of the most beautiful places Ive been...
Nothing in the world like wheelin for a few days in the desert to make you appreciate the shower they have there!
Sorry I couldnt contribute some helpful info, but I always get excited for people heading out the DV! I LOVE IT out there!
