the 2wd is actually a pretty good vehicle in its own right.......it is not 4wd but it does come with Trac control in rear....and also a REAR LOCKER like a Pre Runner. There are quite a few that wheel them locked in rear very successful.

I am also betting they will deal on any 4x4 on the lot too....or you can get your wife a HIGHLANDER or SEQOUIA...they are all on sale. LOL

I fell for that pre-runner line that the rear locker and extra lift really makes it decent offroad. I bought one instead of springing for the 4wd, and it was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made in a car purchase. If you ever think you might drive through a soggy yard, jobsite, or try to turn around off a wet shoulder then get the 4wd. I got stuck in all 3 cases everytime with my prerunner. Not to sound like I am on a soap box or anything, but those "prerunner" trucks are strictly pavement pounding mall cruisers at best.

I agree that they will probably deal on almost anything, except for the car that I would most likely buy. A new Camry SE to replace my DD 04' with 115,000 miles. But I am not complaining because it's just getting broke in, almost paid for, and will suit me fine to 200k.

I bought my Tundra at West Ashley Toyota... they will wheel-n-deal with you. There is a guy in the service department that will work on your truck for super cheap after-hours at the dealership. I don't remember how he worked that out with west Ashley, but they let him do it. I moved about 6 years ago, so I don't remember his name, but he drove a lifted white taco. lol.. not much help

When I went there I could have got a Tundra for the price of a 4x4 Taco. I think they would licked my tires clean since they were so desperate to sell the Tundra's

I could get a Tundra cheaper than the 4x4 Taco when they first came out. It's hard to get a Taco discounted, those are popular trucks.

i am sure everyone is different but I know of two 4x2 FJ owners that go on every run they will let them....and are very respectable given no front end traction. Not saying it will replace...but they do very well for most situations.

hell i drove a 4x2 truck in highschool with rear locker...Mudhawg tires on rear and narrower BFGs on front...and went through a lot as long as I kept my foot into it and the big tires had time to dig down and bite....I did get stuck terribly a few times but momentum is your friend in those vehicles.

I was just offering up the sales flyer I got and to show there are deals out there worth investigating....did not mean it to turn into a prerunner versus 4wheeler thread as it turned.

Don't feel bad Brock, it's just the internet. Anyone with a keyboard has an opinion on how to build it better.

Jeremy

Brock's not alone I had stuck my cJ2A in a fresh plowed field 10 miles down a logging road. Knew I was going to have to beg borrow or steel a couple of 4X4's to get me out of the middle of that mud bog. They had subsoiled and run a bog plow 2 weeks before and it had rained for two weeks. I was really stuck. Dad just jumped in the GMC with posi and blasted all the way back to the field , pulled out the jeep, and then proceded to teach me how to drive off road for real. Don't underestamate the 4X2's some can be really impressive, if driven correctly. Still true however 4X4 does it better, and less broken parts.

do you still have it?.. I've been looking for a SC CJ2A for a loooong time. What year is/was it?

You guys can have all the 2wd's then, I would pony up the $1200 and get the 4wd. When I bought my prerunner Taco it was $4000 diference to get 4wd. There isn't as much difference in price now for me to have to worry about whether I will make it thru or not.

1946 CJ2a my first car when I was 13years old, the farm backup for feeding the cattle in winter. Hell of a little rig loved it. But no longer around, it finally died after many axle breaks and other parts failures and was sold to the crusher when I got the FJ 40 that replaced it in the late 60's. Always dreamed of putting a small v6 in that little rig but alas economy and other issues like school interfeared.

I would not own a 4x2 truck again...and have not since 1981. :D :D :D I was converted....amazing what buying with your own money will do for you....dad was cheap ass but I was glad to have that truck.

by the way....did I tell you i love my FJ60 and FJC? :D :D

I think ProInv, in Florence, has a CJ2 in addition to his FJC

And I will trade for a '75 or newer 40!
