When its erect it gets kinda big. When it all folded up it's kinda little and easy to tow.

Judging by the pictures, it appears to be so big as to prohibit mating with the truck

I think that an extension would solve that problem!

From past experience,
be careful trying to mate up the receiver socket to the extension piece when it's fully erect.
It may seem obvious where everything goes, but it's hard to see when fully erect hides the receiver socket.

I believe Kowboy had to install a tell-tale on Lil' Pete for that very reason?

I think that an extension would solve that problem!
