So I just got a call from my wife that the Odyssey is overheating after she apparently hit something like a tire in the middle of the road. On their way to Florida and 550 or so miles away from me and it's 2:00 or 3:00 in the a.m. I'm guessing she took out a hose or the radiator itself. No idea yet, but it sounds like she drove the thing for way too long with the temp gauge pegged.

She's having AAA come and tow it, but I have no idea where to bring it to get looked at in the a.m. Any Honda dealers you trust nearby, or independent good mechanic? Any info would be great. Thanks

Sorry for posting in more than one place. It's been awhile since I've been on MUD and I'm rusty. Not sure how to cross tag a thread. Thanks.

Sorry to hear this. Hopefully you have figured out Rolling Hills Honda in St Joseph is the closest Honda Dealer by now. Only independent repair shop I've dealt with sort of in the area is another 30 miles away, Wright Automotive in Smithville, MO but the guy I would have recommended there has moved on according to my girlfriend. I haven't dealt with any of his replacements.

They towed it to Lee's Summit Honda and they're going to take a look.
Looks like it took out the radiator and a bunch of other stuff underneath. Now they're in a rental car for the rest of the trip.

If you travel on the road a lot, I highly recommend the AAA Premier RV plan. I got it because it covers me on my motorcycle and my fish house. But didn't realize it also pays for $1500 of "trip interruption" coverage. Towing up to 200 miles, Hotel. Rental car for 3 days. Food. Pretty sweet deal, really. Especially since I didn't know we even had it.

I'm turning it in under my State Farm auto claim since it was a raccoon hit. It's a comp claim so no increased rates, just have to bite the deductible but it beats the alternative I think. They'll blow through $500 in a hurry I'm sure. We'll see how it all pans out. The kid better race his bike this weekend like the wind in Florida or this is going to sting.

Thanks for the tip.

Good place. They would loan me the sst to do timing belts
