Rolled into town (more like sputtered) Monday morning looking accross the valley at the smoking ridge that my house sits on.

It was the longest 22 hr drive of my life. Usually takes 18-19 hours to drive from Terrace to Kelowna but I didn't want to push my failing head gasket (it actually failed on the way up to Terrace) so i was cruising at around 85kph most of the way home.

Fishing could have been better, we were about a week early but the 2 fish I did bring home (12lbs and 27lbs) are as shinny as a new dime (pics to follow)

We are currently on Evacuation Alert in my neighbourhood and things are looking like we should be in the clear in a few days (if the wind stays down). We went through this drill 2 years ago when the ridge just above Rose Valley Lake burned so there was not as much panic/hysteria this time.

Any how.... just an update.

Sorry to hear about your headgasket. :frown: Bummer.

Good news on the Rose Valley containment. Think we need to worry about the Fintry fire?

Did you get evacuated in the middle of the night like some of the folks in Glenrosa?

Glad to hear that all of you guys are okay. It was pretty intense for a bit. GF and I were going to drive back behind Crystal and got the the GLenrosa overpass at 3pm only to see the hillside in flames. FIretrucks were passing us on the way to the scene.. scary.

We went up to at Blue Grouse later that night to snap some pics of the Terrace Mtn and Glenrosa fires and saw the ROse Velly one start up. These pics are a bit blurry but were taken within minutes of each other. scariest thing I've seen in my life:

DieselDaryl,

That IS a scary panorama shot, it would make a cool poster.
