That blows. That is the exact reason I am sketchy about getting a trailer. Still better the trailer than the rig.
The trailer only took a few scratches, most of the impact was taken by the tent and roof rack supports. We just needed to straiten the hinge and duck tape the dust cover everything else was ok on the tent and we moved around the roof rack support putting the undamaged ones in the high load areas and rebent the rest. The fender took a little wrinkle when we rolled it back onto its tires. The muti axis hitch saved the truck and I don't think I would take a trailer on a trail like that with out one.
As for the tents once you use one you will not wont to go back. No more clearing an area under the tent that could rip it or poke you when you are sleeping, no more tent pegs, no more flooding tents in heavy rain, no more cleaning the dirt off the bottom of the tent before folding it, No more trying to fold the tent so it fits back into it's bag... The list go's on and on...
We used the RTT in weather from 98F/36.7C to 28F/-2.2C and had sun, rain, wind, snow and hale with out any problems.
I will be keeping my other tent for those places you can't get to with the RTT but if I have a choice I will use the RTT everytime.
