I am trying to build my own roof rack. I am having trouble finding a good design for the feet. Most of the South African Roof rack ether have a channel bolted to the roof or just a simple angle to bolt to the factory mount and completely remove the rubber channel.

Here is some of the design I found on the internet.

1. African Autback (complete removal of the rubber channel) Much easier to copy but One of my biggest concern is if the removal of the rubber channel would cause any leak or clog the drain next to the windsheld.

2. Rhino rack complelely sealed design. Load limit is 333 Lbs. Only 6 pieces of 6 mm bolt on the rack holding the main rack.

3. Hannibal track mount. Not sure how you would seal everything except to silicone everthing.

Does anybody have rust problem with aftermarket roof rack bracket? Does it create any leak?

Which one do you guys think would work better?
I really like the Rhino seal but I have to buy the whole rack to get it.
