heres the deal..my rip fence for a circa 1981 sears n robuck 10"table saw finally gave up the ghoast. i've had it since new, and repaired fence parts once. it's always been a peice of ch**p!!! and now that it's broken yet again, i'm feeling that it's time to do a "real fix" no more sears genuine replacement parts! my question for the group is has any one made a home brew rip fence that was better than the ome? i might add that the base unit( the table saw it's self , has been alright..not stellar, just alright.) i'm willing to hunt and adapt, but would rather trash the old table saw,!!! than buy, yet another sears replacement part. is there an home brew rip fence, that can be cobbleed from eayly found parts out there? or even a off brand that'll work? belive me..i'm open!!

I have an old saw of my Dad's (from about that time, was a 220 unit) I'm getting ready to heave..the rip fence may sttill be good..can you post a pic and dimensions?

You can get a Vega, Biesmeyer, Shop Fox, or Exaktor fence. Cost, $200-$400. All these are superior to anything you will find on a new Sears tablesaw. You can see all of these on Amazon.com

thanks guys. pat, that's generous of you, but to tell you the truth, i'd rather not go that route. for that reason i think i'd be better off trying one of the fences like the ones john mentioned.
