Riding with kids?

I'd like to hear any issues anyone has had with having little ones in a Landcruiser. Any advise, equipment and asccessory knowledge, or stories I could learn from. My son is 4 months and I am trying to make my life kid friendly.
Buying a van and and trading in my "8 mpg box on wheels" is out of the question.

Do you have a forward facing rear bench or the original side seats? For 4 months, lap belts are easiest, depending on the car seat configuration. Once they get to booster seat age, you might want to look into putting 3pt shoulder belts.

That being said, I took my son in my 40 when he was a bit smaller, either in the front seat with a lap belt or the jump seat with a lap belt. I want to go with a metaltech family cage at some point, put in a rear bench seat and shoulder belts.
