Getting thread back on topic ..... :grinpimp:

Saturday, Jan 7th.

I am not going to call this date a HAMOM since I don't wish to make a big fuss out of the swap but I am open to volunteers coming to do some wrenching.

Provided there are no surprises or setbacks my plan is for the engine swap to happen on Saturday, Jan 7th (I will begin prelim stuff on Friday).

Please let me know if you would like to come so I can forward an address and have a notion of how many to expect.

Would love to come up. I am getting back from wonderful Las Vegas the night before from CES, though, so need to see how this plays out.

Re: Saturday, Jan 7th

A wonderful response to the call for volunteers. Thank you!

Still not wanting to call it a HAMOM but the number of interested wrenchers is trying to say otherwise. I have no idea if there is some critical mass that makes a HAMOM official but, regardless, thank you all.

Natalie and I chatted this morning and decided we would cook a butt that will be ready to pull in the early afternoon so will have plenty of BBQ.

Otherwise what we want to hope for is above freezing temps. The 80 will just fit in the garage but that leaves no room to use the hoist so the door has to stay open. Anyone have one of those forced air kerosene heaters?

And if anyone happens to have an engine sling:

Rice, I have a couple engine slings but no way to get one to you.

Thanks Stan.

I've always managed without one but that comes with the usual "wrestle" it into place scenario. I'm figuring some added efficiency during the install can help prevent an hour or 2 of wasted time.

I think i can get a sling from Dunlap now that the chevelle nor the motor are at his place.

Rice I have a gun heater that I think I can bring down if not in use that day at the new house.

I have a sling. If one of the Charlotte guys who will be in attendance wants to swing by the house beforehand. Just let me know.

I've got a sling and I'll be there. Piece of cake.

I have used those heaters before and they put out a ton of heat. It's like a little jet engine. You should be able to have that thing outside the garage, pointed in, and keep at least one side of the garage reasonably warm.

Not much wrench time tonight. Some parts cleaning, new plug tube seals, and valve cover install.

I like the red valve cover, plug wires to match?

Thanks Stan.

Having two makes mating motor to trans/T-case Combo pretty easy..
