I have a need for some plastic to make a couple of spacers. What I need is two pieces roughly 1/2" thick by 6" long by 2" wide. Obviously I can cut to fit the length and width part, the thickness I'd rather not try and trim as the mating surfaces need to be flat.

Anybody got any idea where I could find something like this.

Nylon would work...

Thanks,
Tym

Thanks Erik, but i've been to DH Griffin, you gotta wait in line behind the guys dropping off scrap. Need to have the afternoon off to go get one piece of steel. Anyhow, I did get another idea... those plastic cutting boards, like for kitchen use. I can cut one of those up and if necessary stack 'em.

It's a just test anyhow. What I'm doing is shimming between my hood and hood hinges on my FJ60 to try and evacuate some of the heat at highway speeds. Currently I run at 200 degrees on the highway and it climbs to 205 or maybe more on uphill grades. Makes running the A/C impossible. So, if venting the hot air works I'll cut vents or louvres in the hood, just didn't wanna cut without some idea that it would work first.

thanks for the help...

What about running a supplemental electric fan, Wrapping the exhaust in the engine bay with some of that nifty heat supressing tape or going with headers (I know $$$ on the headers)? If you alter the hood and hinges you could be looking at causing more unanticipated troubles.
