I have a front driver side wheel stud i have to replace. How much time and work am i looking at? How many  job is this one?

I have called the dealership and they quoted me a whopping $260 to do it plus parts. So that makes me think its a big job.

Anyone done this before?

for a wheel stud..you got to be kiddin right?? when i greased my hubs and put new front discs on (thanks steve) we just droped it off at a garage and payed the guy 20 bucks to hit the studs out of my old discs and put them in my new ones..if ya are only replacing one id just hit it out and knock a new one in..a 5bls sledge should do the job...
good luck

$260 doesn't seem that out-of-line. You do have to remove you hub, which will take the largest portion of time. If you have a service manual, metric sockets in typical sizes, a 54(?)mm hub socket, BFH, brass drifts, grease and a fish scale (am I forgetting anything?); you are set. This may be the perfect opportunity to pack the steering knuckles, replace axle seals and brake rotors since you are about 1/4 of the way there anyway. There is some info under the tech info on this site that is quite helpful. Look for birfield repacking articles, a lot of the information there will be helpful in getting the hubs off. Once the hubs are off, whack the old stud out with bfh and whack the new one in.

Remove the hubs? Seriously? I thought you just had to take the disk off.

Well sort of...two bolts hold the disc brake rotor to the Hub. You don' t need to take the rotor apart from the hub to swap out the studs. Good time to check/replace the wheel bearings and hub seal. $260 is about right, though I wouldn't pay it...get the guy to repack your bearings while he's in there.
