Had to ask here since I know some of have changed the birfs and changed brake pads the last month.

Ill be stopping by the Toy Part Dept. I need to know the part# (before asking CDan/if you guys know it) and if I have to replace the inner squeal shims along with the outer. Per search some have suggested not a life/death situation without.

Thanks.

Per FSM: 5. INSTALL NEW PADS
NOTICE: When replacing worn pads, the anti–squeal shims
must be replaced together with the pads.

I re-use them unless there worn out.

The OEM pads are good but at the rate the 80 goes through them I went with the Autozone Duralast gold with the lifetime warranty ($30) basically if you bring in the old ones and there not worn down to metal they give you another pair no charge.

Think I'm on my 3 set or so covering 70k, lasted me just as long as OEM and braking was the same and better after I switched to 100 series pads ~ 50k ago.

I've never replaced the shims. Always just reused them w/o any issues. Don't bother.

I did put a little hi-temp grease on the shim. I think it's the slotted one, but I don't remember. FSM should tell you. No shims using the 100 series pads now tho.

Use 100 series pads. They work better but the shims don't fit. Just eliminate them as they don't seem to do anything I can detect.

The 100 series pads are longer lasting and provide better braking. I'm not sure how, but they do. Other than the shims, it's a direct swap.

Thank you Sirs!

Everybody have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Nope - just sold them to Mike (mkfour) today as a matter of fact. He just picked them up at my office. Same price as Smitty sold them to me. Not looking to scam a fellow mud member, especially one that went to war on his birfs the same day as I did! :D

Speaking of rotors I replaced my front ones at 150k.

BECK/ARNLEY Part #0802580 regularly 29.99 each but scored them for $9.99 each wherehouse clean-out deal :D from rockauto.com. Been really happy with them.
