I recently bought an FJ40 with a very poorly done rattle can paint job. There is overspray everywhere, including window gaskets..

I saw on another thread someone using lacquer thinner to remove rattle can paint from the body. But that was not on rubber. Just looking for suggestions.

Thanks!

I use laquer on rubber also. Don't know if it helps, but then i wipe on a little armorall.

Brake fluid works well at removing paint and softening rubber, but don't get any on the paint that you want to keep! Best to remove the rubber, treat, then wash with water before getting it near the "good" paint.

A cheap can of oven degreaser works well too. And that works well for gunk on the motor and wont deteriorate hoses and belts.
