So, a guy gives me a pair of Bicentennial Plates, the ones that ran from 76 to I think 91. These have 86 stickers on them. I get them verified by the highway patrol with the correct paperwork and take them down to register the 40 and they say I can't do it because the stickers have to match the year of the vehicle. I asked them why that matters since the plates themselves are period correct for my 82. They say, I have to come back and talk to the supervisor when they are there. Is this true? I don't see what the big deal is if the plates are correct for the period. Anyone done this?
