Has anyone registered a vehicle in GA that has not been registered in the state before?

I called the registration office and asked what I would need to register the vehicle and they mentioned that I would need to have an officer come to my house to fill out a Ceritifcation of Inspection form.

Anyone have to do this?

Thanks.

I bought my 80 off of ebay in Texas, drove it home and had it inspected (smog) and then go down to the tag office with smog paper, insurance, and Title.

No problems with my '93 pickup. Are you registering a "classic" vehicle without a title?

I had problems renewing the tag for my Celica because the tag office mis-typed the VIN number. An officer came to the house and verified the VIN and signed a form (I forgot the name of the form, but I printed it from tag office web page). It wasn't a big deal, and the neighbors are accustomed to seeing a police car in front of my house. :p

I have the title in hand. She said the issue was that because it was not registered in GA it would not be in their records. Seems odd to me that that would even matter.

I've purchased a number of cars from out of state... never any kind of issue at all... other than the lines at the tag office of course.

Well, I went ahead and called the sherriff and had him fill out the sheet. He said it was quite common and took maybe 15 minutes to get to my house from calling. And I am now legal!

Look out for a lifted, RUSTY, FJ40 roaming the Woodstock, Alpharetta & Roswell roads.

I had my neighbor (police officer) fill out the form for a BMW I bought from out of state. The tag office said my VIN could not be found due to it's age :meh: I went down to the tag office w/ the bill of sale, ins. card, drivers license, completed form & all was good. Hope to see that rusty rig at a monthly meeting :bounce:
