Hi,
I recently sold my 100 series(2001 lx470) and bought an 80 series (lx450) because personally I like 80 series more....
I think that the power difference between the two is not the 50 pounds of torque difference but actually gearing (4.11 vs 4.3 I think) because although the v8 is more powerful, the 100 series is heavier. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Question 1. If I regear the lx450 to say 4.56 or 4.88, run the stock 275/70r16 tires will I be able to have similar capabilities and acceleration like a 100 series?

Question 2. I need to tow my buggy/trailer (4500-5000 lbs), through hills, do you think the lx450 regeared is up to the task. I've read many posts that says it is, but haven't found one with a regear and stock size tires...

Question 3. What gear ratio would you suggest?

1. Answer: Sure - up to about a top speed of 50 mph.

2. Answer: Sure - it's at the max capacity. The question you might want to ask is if the 80 will STOP the trailer and if the 80 can handle the wind loads. I would never tow at or near my capacity with an 80 for safety and mechanical lifespan reasons. my $.02.
