OK, in the spirit of education and all things happy, below you will find a link to a .pdf file on the NFS website. This is a map of all the legal routes in the Reddington Pass area. Currently, these are the only legal routes in this area. There are a number of illegal routes in this area, please refrain from using them.

Also note that there are several "information boards" located in high traffic areas, these boards have this same map on them, just in case you forget yours at home.

A couple of the highly used illegal routes which should be avoided include:
  1. The maze of trails south of 4431 and east of 4431A (the Chimney rock area which has been discussed several times).
  2. The trail back to "the pools".
  3. The trail that starts immediately across the illegal road to "the pools" (south side of 4426), heading down the creek and meeting up with 4405 where you would normally make the first creek crossing if you are on the normal route to Chiva Falls.
  4. The spur trail heading south off of 4417 between the staging area and 3 feathers.
There are others, but these are the most prominent wildcat trails that come to mind off the top of my head.

Awesome info Brian! This should help alot of people. And to think this stuff's just out there on the interweb for anyone to find...

I'd say it would be a good idea to collect any such information in the form of a sticky thread, named AZ Trail info or something to that extent, and keep it on top of the forum...

Good job Brian!  While I don't wheel out there....if I ever do, it'll be nice to have the info. Thanks.

Sean
