I'll be doing a HG and valve job soon.
Anyone in the Tulsa area you would recommend for these big Toyota 6's?

I would stay as FAR away from those morons at Southwestern Motor Rebuilders as physically possible. They screwed my motor up twice, and then wouldn't honor the warranty. Nice family, but seem to have no clue what they are doing - not to mention their constant lies "waiting for parts."

I have an immense dislike for this place and tell everyone who asks to stay away...

I had Lucito's do my 2F block, crank, and head for the FJ-60. He did a good job. He also did the second head after I cracked the first one. I would recommend him.

Lucitos is off Mingo just West of 55th. I took my crank, block, and head along with my new pistons and valve guide seals. I did all the legwork getting freeze plugs from Cruiser Dan in NM and piston/rings from Man-a-fre. The old Toyota engines are not something these guys see all the time and probably don't have contacts to get parts. I put it all together myself.

Tom is a one man shop so if you want it tomorrow - might find somewhere else.

Some of the other guys are using another shop. They say he is cheaper. I will try and find out which one.

PS - I am on OKS also - same name.

Uncle Meat - are you looking for a machine shop or someone to do all of the work? Not sure if I answered your question.

Dave -= never seen you post on OKS :) Will look out for you.

Did you know I picked up (in the process) Greg's 74 he had out in Oologah? He still has the 70 and hopefully that will be up and running soon.

Jonny,

I need someone to do the machine work on the head of my 1996.
Valve guides, grind valves, and adjust valve lash (shims).
I'm going to do the head gasket as PM soon.

Would like to find someone who knows Toyota's

Kevin,

I would say go with Dave's guy as he apparently isn't worthless like the place I went :bang: Let me know how it goes, as I may be in the market to have mine re-done soon.

Stay in touch,
Jonny

Some of the guys have been using Car Parts Machine Shop on Admiral just west of Yale. They seem happy with the work and say the prices are good. They have been around a long time.

Any good machine shop will be able to do a Toyota head. I am not sure you will find any shop in Tulsa that specializes on Toyotas.

I used Tudors Machine Shop 20 years ago and had good results. They are still in business but the father retired. I think the son is running it. He has Toyota Cruisers I know as I discussed parts with him once.

The only one I can personally recommend is Lucitos as that is who I used.

Good luck and let us know who you use and how it turns out. Someone else might need a good machine shop.
