Hello,

I am a relatively new Mud Member and FZJ80 owner. Currently I am working on doing some PM stuff and getting the truck ready for a mainland mexico trip in mid january, (will be spending 2-3 weeks around the Puerto Vallarta area....) Last weekend a friend and I handled the front axle rebuild....what a dirty job that was....

I am planning on running some trails while down in Puerto Vallarta....I found a local website with trail locations around http://vallarta4x4.org/index.html. Check out some of the trail pics pretty cool jungle trail runs with river crossings....Anybody care to join me on this mainland mexico trip? We can set up a caravan.....not too late. Come to think of it. I will post a separate thread....

My rig is currently set up with Nitto Terra ATs 295's, J springs in front, 2.5 heavy's in the rear....Just installed a Slee transfer skid plate.....No lockers....no sliders....

I would appreciate if you would recommend some local trail runs where I can enjoy my rig at my current set up. I am relatively new to off roading and am looking forward to meeting some of you in future trail runs....The mud forum has been a great resource, good group of people.

You may have better luck posting this in the Trails section. There are a few here that have done some wheeling in Mexico, but a post to Trails would get you the AZ, NM an TX folks that may have been there as well.

Let me clarify: I need recommendations for trails around the Inland Empire, Big Bear area.....local trails in other words.

You should come with us next thurs. (the 21st) if you can get away for the day (see daytrip thread). I have not been on too many trails myself. Calico is fun as well as Miller Jeep (which might be closed now due to the fires). I have also enjoyed various Big Bear trails, I am just not sure which ones I have been on.

What part of LA are you in?

Smit

I am in Alhambra....near South Pasadena.....

Smit,
I thought about the group ride on Thursday, I may be out of town next week however.....otherwise I may just make this.

Places i've wheeled that are offered to us somewhat locally.

Big bear Area: John bull, deep creek, holcomb, gold mtn, onyx summit, Cleghorn Rd, Silverwood lake trail.

High Desert: El Diablo, Pumpkin Eater, all the Hammer Trails.

Low Desert: Anza Borrego, Ocotillo Wells, Truckhaven

Inland South on the 15 fwy: Wildomar OHV, Los Coyotes Indian Reservation

North of LA: Miller Jeep trail, Hungry valley OHV, Yellowjacket

Just east of LA: Azusa

I can give you feedback on any one of these areas/trails.

Yeah, what he said. :flipoff2:
