It looks like I may need to have the steering box rebuilt on my FJ60, does anyone know of anybody here locally that will do. Have someone in Texas that does it but no one here.

The box has to be off the vehicle to be rebuilt, but I'm sure Marshall could take the whole truck and get it done for you. He's out near Greenville.

I'm sure he would do either, but would be quicker if you had it off.

Its not really difficult at all. Biggest 2 issues are not skiving the new teflon O-rings on the sector shaft bore when reassembling and getting the alignment correct for full wheel travel. I've rebuilt the 60 box on my Samurai twice because I skived the orings. Wish one could get just those orings, if so I'd just have ordered extras.

Did you rebuild or just reseal?

I've read recently that you can break the leading edges inside the bore of the box to help eliminate the problem of skiving your o-rings. That's what I plan to do with my 80 box.

Resealed. Did not replace sector shaft or piston. I proken those edge with a dremel then fine sand paper second go round.

I figured I could just send it to him or drop it off. I am looking for a used one to send off to have rebuilt. I need an early pattern 60 series one.
