A recent thread about LED substitutes for the rear red reflectors made me think about the progression of Koito reflectors on the rear valence of the pickup trucks. I've attached photos of three versions I have seen, but these don't seem to match-up with the dates listed in the Parts catalogs. Please amend this if any info is not correct:

Earliest example seems to be #FJ25 55250, from the early 1960s until the 10-digit part number system came into being.

Next 81910-60020 from 1964 -9/67, 3-1/2" diameter, flanged with holes--no rear studs.
Then 81910-60060 from 10/67 until ?

The later catalogs show

81910-25010 1968-9/73
81910-39055 9/73-1/79
81910-39056 1/79-10/85.

It appears that the larger 3-1/2" reflector with the side-tab mounts (Koito L-1726) ran at least thru the 1967 models.

The chrome-ringed smaller 2-1/2" rear stud version is molded with a 68 and Koito 13-05102.
The black rim model with a stamped 82 and Koito 13-05501.

That's six different part numbers (maybe some were superceded) and photos of only three styles.

While some of the original importers slapped reflectors, heaters, hubs, etc. on incoming trucks, I'm looking to see what was original from the factory. Can anyone share the correct Toyota part numbers for the three versions shown here, and perhaps photos of other factory reflectors on the rear valence of these trucks?

Thanx.

Hey Bear, the center reflector (13-05102) is what was on my 1977 & 1980, The one pictured looks new. Did you find a source for them?

Thanks
Darren

Darren,

Not really, but..........

The expensive way to get a "chrome"-ring Koito reflector is to purchase the complete side reflector for the FJ40 with the hard rubber mount pre-1979--not the black plastic mount from 1979 up. Once disassembled, the complete pre-79 reflector unit has a metal frame inside the rubber portion holding that very reflector. You're left to discard the unneeded rubber mount and the metal frame. The black plastic version appears to have the mount molded/glued to the reflector, and only removable if at all by breaking the reflector out of the mounting, which I'm not going to attempt.

The black-plastic ring reflector shown in the above photo is the Koito replacement that Specter had been selling for the pickups, but now appears to have been discontinued. I have seen others that are similar on trucks from the Middle East, but haven't pursued that yet.

My original post here was to ask for the original part numbers for these reflectors, but no responses so far.

Anyway, originality comes sometimes at a steep price. And eventually all sources dry up.

Good luck.

Thanks Bear. My hopes were up for original but I'm going to try these. A little smaller but as close as I've been able to find.
