I'm not really sure this is a good solution.

What happens when you lose traction? You quit plowing, that's what. When pushing a blade the ground behind the blade gets cleared and you get better traction than tring to drive over ice and snow.

I have no direct experience with a plow, but common sense says you are much more likely to get stuck in deep snow with a rear plow. Your truck has to drag itself, plus the entire load of snow, through the deep stuff. I don't see how it can be efficient. If your truck gets stuck, you can't just back up and get another run because you are dragging a mountain of snow behind you. Sounds like a recipe for disaster....

I second the opinion about a 4 wheeler - how about a 4wd ATV with front plow? That would be great fun in winter as well as the rest of the year. It would likely take longer to clear your driveway than with a truck mounted plow, but I think it would be a blast. Used ATVs are everywhere and not that expensive. The plows are cheap.

ahh -- the kiss of death -- this post was just moved to "outfitting" --

-- now you can get 2% of the hits on it you would have gotten --

-- may it rest in peace, along with the "chemical toilets" post --

A friend of mine has an old Ford tractor with a rear plow blade. He uses it for his driveway too up in Syracuse.

One problem with it is that if you get a lot of snow, you need somewhere to pile it up. With the rear blade, you can't just push the snow off to the side, so you end up with a narrower and narrower driveway as the winter progresses. He's planning to trade in his blade for a blower to get around this problem.

I realize you may have other cars, but if you can drive through it, why plow it? That being said, if I had an extras $1,000 I would get a SnowSport. I feel they are light duty enough for an 80.

You gotta plow it or the snow just packs and packs...which isn't bad until spring comes and the drive is a freakin skating rink/slush fest

I can't remember if the 318's came with 3 points, but I have a little massey 65 that runs a 3 point blower real well

If you get a 4 wheeler you spend alot of time adjusting the blade at the end of each of your runs. Buy a Honda snow blower or have a service come in and do it for you. I own a huge 17 year old Toro and it kicks --s on my Alaska driveway.

That plow looks like a city toy. You never would be able to drive thru deep snow as it built up behind you and started to sink the rear tires. And what about the load limits on the hitch? it would be putting different stresses on the hitch than just normal tounge weight and pulling. were would someone put the snow after pulling it? on the road I guess.
