Has anyone dumped them yet? I was talking about it, but my wife was all like "what? what if we have another couple with us and we need to all go in the cruiser?"

If it were me, I'd just remove them. I might still do that! After all, they could just sit on the floor right? :D

I can't believe NOBODY has thought to ditch the rear passenger seats besides me. I'm probably gonna get that crap out of there to make more room for upgrades :D

That is where I put my "Igloo Ice Cube" cooler at the moment, and had thought the same place for my ARB fridge when I get to buying one. See what I mean, it gives new possibilities.....

Lots of people have removed them to put in a bed with some storage capasity under them. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find some.

When I was single I thought about the bed thing.... if I did it now, I'd be in for shed loads of trouble... :D

I made a set up that fits in the cargo area, 4" high. At camp I unscrew the backseat bottoms, put them in front and the platform folds out to give 6'2" of level sleeping with maximum headroom.

I know this doesn't help with the dogs, but the rear seats are easy to remove and replace. You could probably fab a shelf that fits in the back like mine only shorter. ( I need the front seats slid and cocked all the way forward)

Hope this helps=Bill

Cool...... Hey thanks for posting up on your rear diff problem as well. Are the new gears supposed to hold up?

The new gears are "softer" and are able to take a heavier hit. The older gears (pre February 2007 mfg date) are harder and if you "jump" the back end hard trying to make it over an obstacle, you are likely to break teeth.

As far as the sleeping platform and removing the rear seats, LANDCRUISER STEVE has a very slick solution that a lot of people have copied. I plan to pull the rear seats for camping trips and installing the rear cabinets and then putting the seats back in when I'm not. P-I-T-A? Yes. But seats as you suggested, because of domestic harmony.
