When this light first came on I figured one of the rear bulbs burnt, so I took this opportunity to change all the rear lights to LED's.

But this warning light won't go away. BTW its the car "outline & light coming from the rear" icon.

When I turn the headlights on this warning light turns on & goes away when I turn the headlights off.
Also...
When I press the brake they turn on and will stay on even if I stop braking.

Is this because I went LED's?
How do I fix it?

Thanks for your help.

I have the same issue. I believe it is because of the LED's. They have different resistance in voltage I think.

Thanks for the reply.
Hoping there was a fix. Guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Are you still driving with the rear brake light failure warning light?

Wish I can say I just ignore the light & don't even see it anymore. But it irks me every time when scanning the gauges.
No long term problems.

Funny enough. I had this same exact problem when I tried to put L.E.Ds in my 87 Accord. They wouldn't satisfy something and every time I started up I was alerted that I had a tail light out. It really bugged me to I switched to the cheapos. I am assuming that this is the same thing.

My rear light failure warning light just came on. It only comes on when I put my transmission to Reverse. But my clear lens rear lights are working. I just parked in front of a shop and from the reflection in the glass, I could see both my reverse lights come on on either side of the license plate. Are there multiple bulbs inside the reverse light strand and could I have one of the bulbs fail?

I have checked and my reverse light bulbs are not out. I am out of ideas what could be causing this light to come on. Any ideas?

If there LED's, then the first time you step on the brakes the warning light will come on.
I fixed my with a strategically place electrician tape covering the icon.

I should have clarified. I have standard exterior and interior lights. No LEDs.

I have checked and all my lights are working. This dash warning lamp even comes on with the headlight switch in the off position.
