Can one of you 80 frame swap guys tell me why you don't cut those rear spring buckets loose and relocate them lower?

Messes with running off the shelf suspension cos you've fiddled with the rear.. thats why I avoided it anyway..

So you need a body lift to fit a factory engine and suspension on a factory frame?
I think part of the problem is the 55 trans tunnel is not deep enough to take a later model gearbox/transfer ... I've heard similar from folks who put a H55F into a 55 with factory floor.. The BJ73 floor (and I suspect the 100/80 series floor Deo has) offers a lot more room

Now is to figure out how to get the body on the frame in a 6+ foot garage in an HOA. I think I might have seen Briveganbj42 use a engine lift.

yes.. but its a bit of work to get the balance right..

Such a day! Could not find a trailer amongst any friends and struck out on all the rental places. Had wanted to take the chassis down to a guy to put it on a rack to make sure it was square. It seems like that would be smart before I continue. The money to accomplish this started to rack up- like that "rack up" - rack cost, trailer, truck to drag the trailer. The whole thing amounted to a couple hundred bucks. Not a good time to throwing around money.

I feel like I was pretty tight on the cut and reweld and I have measured a bunch of Xs from various points, compared heights and they all seemed to be within an 1/8" or so. Can put a 3' flat edge on the top with little light showing underneath, end to end.

what you all think? Is it worth it. Should I spend the time and money to answer this question?

If you’re confident in your measurements then you’re just spending money at this point for someone to tell you “good job”. If you’re questioning your measurements then ask a friend to come over to your place and get a second set of eyes on it and reconfirm everything is straight level and square to the best of your ability and keep building, when you get it running take it to an alignment shop and have them put it on a rack that will do a 4 wheel alignment and have them square it then. At the end of the day this is all that matters for what we do with these vehicles, if you’re trying to squeeze that last little bit of performance out of a race car then yeah a perfectly straight, level and square frame is important but you would have built that frame in a fixture to start and this would be a different conversation.
