Yeah, so you can put a socket on them and run them down until they bottom out.I imagine that the hex side is on the outside for torqueing into the hub. Right?
How is that different than just stacking two nuts on the stud?Yeah, so you can put a socket on them and run them down until they bottom out.
If you had the option between the two, why would you want to screw around stacking nuts? How is that different than just stacking two nuts on the stud?
I'm probably not in a hurry. Can I get hardened studs that don't have the hex drive on top? That are about an inch shorter?About six less steps.
Cut them off flush with the nuts? Like U-bolts...Am a little worried on how far out they stick out. Seems like they are just waiting to be rubbed off by a rock.
Sadness- I did make some lemonade out of it though.
Been planning since last year to return to SAS. All was loaded and I was on the road with my boy Dave after having gotten all the work stuff done. We left Ventura area round 11am. About Three hours out of Vegas, outside temp was running 110, my AC stopped working. The compressor kept clicking on and off, never engaging. click click click Could figure out what it was while driving. When I got going faster I couldnt hear it, so jsut keep going.
About two hours out of Las Vegas, outside temp 119, the engine started losing torque. Engine wasn't overheating (highest it got was 200) just didnt have any power going up hills. Stuff that should have been doing 70 up was now doing 60 and dropping in 3rd gear. There a 6liter in there for God's sake!
In Baker I opened the hood and my steering pump reservoir had overflowed, hit the fan belt and flung all over the engine compartment.
Not happy. My phone was in the shade but had gone to standby because it had overheated. The dash dials were actually hot to touch. Dave bought me a ice cream and we limped on.
I pulled the plug in Vagas. Fortunately, I have a friend in Vegas and with the proper elixirs I was able to wash away my disappointment. The craps tables with such pretty girls walking by also helped!
Left for home 2 days later. Left early morning, 80*, no problem all the way home. The AC even worked.
