My sister-in-law drives a 1999 RAV4 with 200,xxx miles on it about 120 miles a day. Today she was on her way to work and the CEL and all dummy lights went on when she got off of the highway so she pulled over and popped the hood.

She found Zero coolant and it was leaking what I'm assuming to be Toyota Red (not sure from where though) and no oil on the dip stick. The thing is that, knowing that she's overdue for an oil change, she checked all fluids last night to see that they were topped off.

Any ideas? She had to take it to the nearest garage shop so I'd like to get an idea of what the issue is in the case that the mechanic decides a little *extra is wrong with her vehicle.

thanks in advance!

Was there any type of noise before everything lit up? You don't just loose oil and coolant without obvious signs of a struggle.

Timing belt snapped and the water pump went out - coincidence? $1,200 bill and she's back on the road.
