i'm new to all of this, and i'm sorry if i'm asking a question that's already been answered but here goes. just purchased (last week) a 07 FJ 6MT with next to no miles on it and a 6" RC lift with skid plates and RXC bumpers. i really dig this truck, have already been out in the mountains, and love it. as to the street, this thing tracks okay... i'm fairly sure that other than an alignment, the guy i bought it from didn't do anything after the lift. even at a stop, i have about 3" of pitch or yaw (whatever you want to call it) if you rock it, and it becomes very twitchy on the highway when shifting if you do anything other than feather off the clutch. it pulls really hard to the right rear axle when you let off the gas at anything higher than 2000 rpms... i'm able to dive around a lot of it's nuances, but any suggestions for tightening it up? better control arms up front? stiffer springs in the back? any input is appreciated. i don't have a ton of money to play with, but i can spend $1500-2000 right now. thanks guys!

First, welcome to ih8mud :flipoff2: (the official ih8mud solute)

I'd check the simple stuff first. Start with checking tire pressure and tire wear patterns to see if there is an alignment issue. Tire pressure differences can cause some of what you are talking about.

I'm a bit confused by the 3" of "pitch or yaw", are you talking at rest? The truck is leaning to one side 3"? FJC's have the same issue with driver's side lean as most other Landcruisers, but 3" is a sign of a problem. Please check that with a tape and some level ground. You could be dealing with a blown shock or spring if thats the case.

You may also just not have experience driving around in a vehicle that wasn't designed to be lifted 6". That much lift makes them pretty "tippy", even stock they are not the best mannered highway machine out there.

I'm also confused by the "pulling really hard to the right" part of your question. You mean when you let off the gas, it pulls toward the passenger side w/o braking? Are you driving around on crowned roads and not realizing it? That happens when the pavement isn't flat and is crowned but if its on flat, level pavement, more red flags are going off in my head.

Please try to describe it a bit better. Sorry but I guess I'm having a slow day and not sure what you mean...

so when the truck is totally still, if i push the body, it pivots (twists) side to side as well as rolls a little. in turn, when driving it seems that when you shift, the same thing occurs, and the truck feels like its wagging/twisting from side to side for lack of a better word. when you let off the gas, it pulls towards the right, but only noticeably if you're shifting at higher RPMs, and only for the initial response. it corrects itself easily, but it's really noticeable. i don't think it's an alignment issue as it tracks really well provided you're on the gas, and well even when you're not, but there is an initial twist feeling when you get on/off the gas.
it has a great stance, there is no lean at rest. it feels like the body is in need of stabilization to prevent twisting and keep it tracking straight under hard acceleration. but, older muscle cars that are non-posi rear behave the same way, so i didn't think it was a major issue. i also notice a little bit of noise when you engage the transmission out of first, sounds like the rear differential hooking up. again, i'm new, so i do have some real brainer questions...

Check to see if the sway bars are still there? (Should be one in the front going from one A arm to the other and one in the rear)

My taco tends to "rise" while accelerating and has noticeable body roll w/o the sway bar.

I have the RC Lift. It pulls to the left a little without braking and really bad when braking. Try to get it aligned again and ask the tech if it is perfect. If not ask him what could cause it to pull the way it is pulling. If it is your camber then Upper Control Arms will help a lot. You will gain your camber back that you loose having the lift.
