I know there is a tech section.. but i rather just ask you guys since it's not that technical..

I drive the cruiser to work like 2-3 times a week and drive the GF's car the rest of the week. This morning when i started the rig(havent drove it since sunday) i heard the biggest rattle ever from the passenger firewall/engine compartment?

Anyone know what it could have been? It only rattled for for a brief second and then it was fine.
I checked under the hood and didn't see anything loose or cracked. I just installed the new factory
front mudflaps last night.. but i doubt it was them.

Was it the exhaust manifold maybe?

thanks guys,

Dave Druck

look at the cats the heat sheild can get rocks in it or get loose... also look at the exhaust frame bracket down from the exhaust manifold..., the exhaust mounts also go bad one by the muffler and one by the bumper just ahead of the resonator, can cause the same thing....

one final thing the botom motor cover that covers the fan belts on the bottom can be loose and rattle......

that is all I can think of right now....

BTW I assumed it wasn't motor related....if you think it is check the oil filter and make sure it has a check valve some cheep ones dont......

LC's are also known for their start up rattle. Nothing to be concerned with from everything I've read.

Like Ray and Brent said. Some make an internal rattle at start up untill oil pressure builds up. Make sure you use OEM or quality filters. Only seems to happen after it sits at least overnight, or so I'm told.
