Short of taking the damn thing apart, anyone have any ideas on how to get this to disengage? The lever pulls out about 1/16" and will only turn a few degrees. The lever knob sits at about a 80 degree angle instead of 90. It's been this way ever since I got this 40. I've ran the cable in and out several times and it still won't budge. TIA

try moving the drum back and forth with the remote or by hand a little bit . my ramsey is like that , well the lever isn't 80 degrees instead of 90 but i have to rock the drum a little occasionally to get it to disengage .

Thanks. I've tried that, still no worky.

some times you have to mess with it for a while , get angry and then get mad walk away do it again and then its like butter .

you could try greasing it .

that side of the winch is really simple , you might just want to take it off and check it out .

Messed with it, got angry, got mad, greased it, then finally took the side off. Found a combinations of problems: shaft had enough rust on it to not allow the clutch to slide and the set screw had allowed the release shaft to get kind of boogered up. Cleaned it all and it works like a champ.

Thanks craptab!
