Love getting water in SoCal.....just not when I'm under the truck :frown:

But honestly, this wet winter is really going to help our flora and fauna that has been suffering greatly. Should also reduce the likelihood of large burns next year if this weather continues to bring much needed water. Problem for the burned areas currently though. Anyone know if the mudslides have started yet?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend
Brad

Yes, rain is good. Just not in a bucket dropping fashion. We are expected or may have had 8" already. That's too much too fast. It would be better to get it slowly within a weeks time. Mudslides like you mentioned are going to happen to matter what if we get a ton of rain real fast.

I wasn't doing anything important so I took a short drive to check out the flow on the San Gabriel.

I thought the flows would've been much greater. Two years ago the river was climbing the pillars of the East Fork bridge.

Anza Borrego should be carpeted with flowers within a few weeks if this continues.

Will be a great time to get out there and camp.

Ah, finally done with the wrenching...

Yes, several in Malibu
The steep densely populated areas are the worse. I should watch the news after i finished the tivo'd chargers game..nobody say anything :D

Agreed. In this environment water takes a long long time to soak in. Last weekend I was up in a dry wash above Pyramid Lake. I'm sure there was/is a torrent of water there now, and will be dry again just as quickly

Nice pics of your Mojave Rd trip by the way, very cool

Wow. That must have been pretty crazy to see two years ago. I know that bridge and the basin at that point is pretty wide...thats a lot of water

All the times I went to anza-borrego I never managed to see the darn flowers that everyone raves about. This would be a good op to see em, plus I could go check out fish canyon etc...

A couple of small ones in Silverado Canyon but no major damage... Yet. Fingers crossed.

a good day for work:cool:

Did you fix your front locker yet?

From your sig-line it looks as though you still haven't got the harness.

Nope. Still baselining and doing PM. A front locker harness is pretty far down my list at this point unfortunately.

Here is what is next:

-Brake Fluid Baseline
-Power Steering Fluid Baseline
-Low Idle Diagnosis (IAC, PCV, TB, throttle cable, ????)
-Engine Wiring Harness PM near EGR(Speed tape + header insulation)

That low idle thing got very pronounced after replacing the o2 sensors yesterday...kinda strange.

How's your rig doing?

For your low idle try to adjust (tighten) your throttle cable linkage and give it some dry lube. I used teflon spray, the stuff I used for mountain bike chains. I'd also clean out your IAC. Also check your rubber intake for cracks near the ribbing.

You might also want to use some fuel system cleaner. Whichever brand you prefer, but I suggest giving Seafoam a try. Not because it's better or anything, but because of the intense smoke created allows you to inspect the entire exhaust for leaks.

I'd also check on your front diff fluid. I always wondered what my true level was (since my driveway is inclined) so I put her up on jacks stands level at all four corners. To my surprise, I was low in the front diff by about 2/3 of a quart.

Yours might not be an underfill issue since you parked in the opposite direction, but you may have overfilled to a bit.

I've got another round of PM's coming up soon:

crank seal/oil pump gasket
valve cover gasket
rear axle job
rear brakes
coolant flush
brake fluid flush

Interesting. I did notice a pen tip sized "hole" in the bottom of one of my outer Cat. I know almost nothing about catalytic converters though.

Also interesting. I'm set to drain and fill again in 500 miles so I'll definitely check before I drain. I'm pretty sure I'm filled though, I was pretty careful to count the qts I was putting in.

Still need to install the breather extensions and get rid of the breather valve.

We've got a similar schedule, though my valve cover is going to wait along with the rear axle. If we set up a rear axle day I could do that though. Just ordered the hand pump so I can do the brake fluid flush myself.
