I want to preemptively change out my radiator on my 1KZ-TE powered 95 with an automatic transmission. What are you guys having success with? I'm in the US so a link to somebody who will ship to me is important.

Thanks!

I went with a local radiator shops recommendation to not install a larger custom. One but instead to install an OEM spec aftermarket one. Koyo brand. Tested extensively towing throughout two hot South Australian summers (+40°c days), touring up through the center of Aus and I could not get that car to overheat. Could not have been happier. Cost me AUD$200. I decided to use the trans cooler part as well and keep it all stock setup and it worked like a dream.

Keeping this thread going. I ordered a radiator today from
64637A - Radiator, engine cooling - https://spareto.com/products/nissens-radiator-engine-cooling/64637a and new hoses from https://partsouq.com/
I though of using a Gen3 4Runner radiator but I would rather keep things stock.
Nice one. Peace of mind for many years to come!

Don't forget to replace the little send/return coolant hoses that go to the turbo. Had one of those burst on me once while boosting up a long hill. Just after I replaced a cracked head too, due to a leaking radiator. It was a small miracle I didn't crack the new head!

My engine also had another short length of coolant hose that came out of the head and back into the block in a 1/2 loop, just below the oil cooler/above the injector pump. I never understood it's purpose but I know it's commonly used as a coolant drain point. Maybe to half drain the coolant system for removing the head? 🤷 Anyways, worth knowing about and replacing while you're giving the cooling system a birthday 😎👍

Keeping this up to date. Both shipments arrived today via DHL. The radiator looks great and no damage. The shipment from Partsouq was missing the 10 blade fan that I paid for. Hopefully they make things right.

Update: The fan was a separate shipment and showed up today. It was packed in a small crate and would have survived being dropped from the DHL jet. A++ for both vendors!

I went with this one. CHR has decent reviews.

Plan to install it this weekend, along with new radiator hoses.

Ideally I'd like to do the radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, turbo coolant hoses, water pump, and thermostat all at once, but we'll see how it goes. Might have to chip away at it.

Also planning on deleting the rear heater.

Radiator I listed above doesn't fit. I could see that I'd have to drill my own holes, but the radiator is too narrow for the mounting tabs on the radiator to reach the mounting points on the body, or on the fan shroud. Returning, not recommended.

Not sure if it's available where you are but look out for a Koyorad OEM spec radiator. I wouldn't trust the cheap Ali ones personally

The company that made this one had good reviews for their other radiators. Not sure how now, if they were built to the same standard. It also wouldn't have used the factory radiator cap anymore, so kinda glad this isn't working out.
