Im web wheeling exclusively now, so I need to hear about some stuff.

So what about that Jack?
WHY do that?
I know vaguely what it is, but I dont know specifically what major advantage it has.
If Im figuring this right, it is essentially an AC unit that you use as a compressor?
If that is the case, would you then plumb in a tank?
What are the years you pull that from?

Id like some more details...

:confused:Ya me and you both:confused:
I have no I idea how I would let the 80 go, I ADORE IT!

That said it might be time to move on, MIGHT....

The replacement plan (if you could call it that) would be a(modified) double cab, short bed full size, diesel P/U with a pop up camper.

Heck I dont know but the problem is once I get an Idea, its like a freight train and I will get it done and figure it out later...

Why!?
What is causing this insanity?
Is this a cry for help?
Do you need hug?
Its those JEEP guyz you hang out with, isnt it?

Seriously dude...what would you wanna do that for?
You LX is set up for damn near EVERYTHING. Moderate rocks, expedition and everything in between. Its a great blend for a rig.
however, I know the feeling of when the urge strikes...but I needed something a bit different than what you wanna do.

Id hate to see you do this, but I MIGHT know of a few people who would be interested...
Id just wanna make sure YOU wanna do this!

I still have a bit of thinking to do and my pick up and a pop up trailer to sell .................

The reason is unlimited air for airing up tires and with a York compressor (A/C compressor), with a 10 cfm rating, not only can you air up tires, but you can run air tools. They put out that much air.

It is engine driven, so again as long as the motor is running, you got air. No more running out of CO2.

You can run them by themselves or with a tank.

Here is a website that will answer some/most of your questions.

Boy do I know how that feels.:hillbilly:

Interesting. I have an empty spot on my Vortec where the ac is SUPPOSED to go....
Might have to look into that.

You should. While he doesn't carry a kit specific to a LSx motor, he does have a ton of stuff and again should give you some more ideas.

I have a Sanden sitting in my garage that should drop right in. I think all you would need are the stock AC brackets. Most of the rest of the parts you need are available from local sources. In the simplest set up you can just run a switch to turn the pump on and off manually. The next step would be to run a pressure switch that only turns the pump on when needed. The next level would be to add a pressure tank.

While Sanden is not the first choice for most people it is just as effective as the York.

Sanden:
Pro - Lower profile
Con - Not a sump oiled compressor, however they work well with an in-line oiler on the supply side.

That is my only issue with compressors...it's like a PTO winch, if you ain't running, you ain't gettin' nothing!! With a tank, you at least have some air saved. I think a little 5lb CO2 bottle just in case would be perfect...small, and it's got the good BLAST to seat a jacked up bead easily! I am thinking about running a York on my 40 too, but with a back up plan.

We talked about that a couple of summers ago when Keith Shawn and I were swapping my f&r diffs on the trail. Shawn has a york setup on his 40 but there is no way we would have been able to run his truck all day while we worked. Having a 10# Co2 tank to run the air tools was very handy. The other advantage of Co2 is I can moved the tank from truck to truck with ease.

On the other hand OBA is a lot cheaper in the long run as well as more dependable. If there were a way to add a pump on my FJ40 I'd do it in a New York second.

Viair is awesome! Their stuff is top notch from what I have seen! Electric pumps are totally bad a$$, especially w/ dual batteries, you don't have to worry if your engine is temporarily down. The small 5-10lb tanks are great for removal for sure, if there is a traffic jam or some other circumstance and somebody else on the trail needs a little juice, just snatch it out and your $$!

Yeah....that tank was a LIFE SAVER for that mishap. Shawns set up is really handy. He's aired my junk up sooo many times. My HF compressor takes FOREVER!

Most trail repairs take quite a LONG TIME for the most part.
