I had a fishing trip get canceled this weekend. Since I was already packed up I decided to get out and do some exploring with the 80.

I almost finished the trail. I was about 1/2 mile from the trails end. But since I was alone, stock, and un-experienced I did a 20 point turn and made my way back.

I managed to get in some fishing.

The 80 did great. This is a great trail for first timers.

it looks awesome, where is this at? thank you for sharing by the way

Awesome - I see trees! Yeah where is that?
I dont see alot of desert in those pics.
Cool area.

Red Lake/Mountain trail. West slope Sierra.

The fishing was at a different place. I intended to fish Red Lake, but I never finished the trail. I'll do it next time after some mods.

The picture of the trail is where I turned around. The trail is a little gnarlier than depicted by the picture. It's a very do-able trail for a stocker. At least up to the point where I turned around. But I have a feeling that the end of the trail is where it gets difficult.

Looks like a great place. Nice Rainbow!

Mike, is this why you're always coming down the 395?

Looks like a nice spot to get some fishing/wheeling in!

Are you going to be able to make it out this weekend? It'd be good to say hello.

ps- If you ever want some company (read: 1/2 gas co$t) on a fly fishing trip give me a ring, I'm always game.

Nice rainbow, and is that a steal-head? Or are you fishing Alaska. Beautiful. That makes me miss NorCal.

All you need is a rod, a reel, flies, waders, and wading boots. I don't even use my waders, except for winter.

I'll see how my schedule is (I have Fri/Sat/Sun off) but have work that I have to do on weekends sometimes. How is your schedule?

Not Alaska, but I'll get there one day. That's a kokanee. This is a steelhead.

Pretty much free every weekend, all I have to do is choose which hobby each weekend... life could be worse! :D

I've got pretty much all the gear, though I've never used waders. Right now I'm working on a project in Pasadena, so I can always stop by Orvis if I want to diversify my fly set.

Speaking of half-gas cost....I'm not breaking your record, but I averaged 16.6 mpg from LA up to Big Bear and then down to Lucerne Valley. That makes me feel good

this looks like a great place. where exactly is this place, again?
