Hi Folks,

Apologies for the grouping of random questions but I'm in the process of order my next batch of parts to baseline my 2004 4.2TD on 237K miles, and I have a couple of questions.
In no particular order:

1) Brake fluid - mine is cooked, the user manual states no.116 DOT 3 as the suggested stuff. Does it really matter whether it's OEM or any Dot 3? Also, a parts supplier suggests Dot 4, I'm just wanting to confirm it is DOT 3 and if the manufacturer/standard matters?

2) Steering rack bushes - mine are shot, we are doing a full steering fluid flush as it's also cooked. The OEM rack bushes don't seem to be sold separately, can anyone suggest any non-poly bush aftermarket options?

Thanks!

Dot 4 is a more modern and direct replacement for Dot 3. Some will say OEM stuff is best, but in my opinion these aren't race cars and the brand doesn't matter. As long as you replace with clean fluid semi regularly.

and make sure you read the instructions on the top of the MC and don't overfill!

Many thanks!

Now to figure out the steering rack bushes :)
