What is the cost of the metal used for fabrication? Specifically tubing used for roll cages and the 4x4 square for sliders? Is it by weight or something else?

As hatman said it it predominantly by weight. Most vendors will break it down on a cost per foot basis. The price varys obviously by the type of metal, type of tubing, wall thickness etc. Prices also change often daily lately. Last year we used to get a price quote that was good for one week. Since Jan quotes are only good for one day, prices change that much. Since the Olympics are over and China is not consuming so much steel we are finally seeing a drop in prices for the first time this year. As of about a month ago prices were up over 110% since last year. I would also reccomend getting quotes from several vendors before you buy becuase the price they charge is based on the last price they paid and that can vary greatly buisness to buisness. If you need any other info feel free to PM me or post up.
