does a 1999 100 series have front and rear locking differentials or only rear? i am looking at the one thats in the for sale section in NC, thanks jason

Rear lockers in 98/99 were an option only. Not standard equip. 2000-up got ATRAC so they did away with the rear locker. No 100 series ever had a front locker. Many install an ARB up front as it is pretty stout for an IFS.

Yep, rear only. If you plan on offroading hard you will need the ARB on the 98-99. The front diff is weak without the ARB installed.

That looks like a nice truck for the money. I saw it over on NC4x4

what are the good and the bad in the 100 series or should i keep looking for a an 80 with front and rear lockers? thank jason

If you are planning on wheeling it much, then around here expect it to get some badges. They are a little wide for our tight wooded trails. I would say buy the 100 and wheel the 60. Or if you want an all-around rig then get an 80. They are stronger and smaller for wheeling.

Fj80 is a better all around rig. Replacement parts cheaper and easier to find than the 60 series. 100 series is nice truck but expensive to fix
