PZJ70 1HZ swap questions

From Georg regarding my specific truck:

Hey Nic.
…… we went to test fit the 1HZ and things got more complicated than anticipated. One engine mount needs to move. We knew that. Also need to modify cross member; trans and Tcase get pushed back. So drive shafts will need to be modified, need to change transmission tunnel since shifters are further back ( roughly 2.5 inches ) …….. Transmission mount is bad. New one on the way from Japan. Already sourced a new flywheel and sone miscellaneous hardware.

You’re adding one cylinder. That “space” has to come from somewhere. Luckily only one engine mount needed to be moved. The PZ and HZ chassis are different. I asked the “usual suspects” and nobody had first hand knowledge. But we’re well on the way st this point.

Instead of moving the cross member, we’re adding a bracket to it to work with the new mount position. The mount currently in there is mock up only. The proper mount is slightly different. Next Tuesday we’ll be back on it since the mount should be here Monday.

Thanks for checking on us. Cross member fab work is completed. New trans mount arrived yesterday. Also managed to source the proper trans tunnel with shifter boots. Drive shafts are at Drive Line Service in Sac to be shortened/lengthened and balanced. Mock up is 90% completed. Hoping to finish frame welding and painting this coming Tuesday.
Once it’s back apart, I’ll send pics.

Could Georg possibly share the part number for the trans tunnel with shifter boots? That will make my life a bit easier, thank you!

Also, what transmission are you using?

Try he bell housing I have no idea. I do know he happened to have it in the shop at the time of fitting. Worth noting ha had never seen this type of variation so I’m not sure how common it is.

I’m using the 151 box.

@orangefj45 will need to answer the PN question
