Treeroots rig is badass.

Check w/ some of the local machine shops, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Do you know how I know you are gay?

Is it just me or does that sound like some kind of a German, barnyard porn?

I'll let this one slide but you call me gay again I will punch you in the mouth. :flipoff2:

Exactly my point. I'm not going to cut up my hood to put in crappy fake louvers. I want real louvers.
Plus notice how the gay louvers are on heeps not LC's

The 80's run hot and heat soak the engine bay, help engine cooling = purpose

Ok....Im not buying it, but whatever you have to do to convince yourself. :grinpimp:

This guys suffers from a similar case of gay denial, im sure he "needs" all of that. :flipoff2:

"The louvers are functional. I read all the threads on cooling and the placement was not by accident. Romer's yarn thread proved this is an area of low pressure and will help to extract the heat trapped underneath the hood. If time permits, the best test would be to tape off the louvers and take temp readings."

You could always buy your own louver press...

Hydraulic Bench Press and Manual Bench Press at Van Sant Enterprises, Inc.

I don't quite buy into the engine bay getting that hot on an 80. The engine bay isn't that cramped. When I think of tight engine bays a Camaro w/a V8 or a newer Audi V6 w/ turbo and AWD come to mind. There's LOTS of real estate under the hood of an 80 (with less than half the HP: HP = heat) compared to most performance cars... Still nicely done louvers look cool but I would not put much stock in the performance aspect of them in this case.

To find a local shop I'd cruise a street rod/hotrod forums and ask who can do the job in Indy. Or look in the phonebook and start calling numbers.

Good luck!

Seriously, though..

Really, though, Lee. I've had real good luck with the Mittler Bros. tools in the past. The biggest limitation for you is the depth of reach on any of the available presses. This is going to be dependent on the intended placement of your louvers. Obviously, if you are putting them at any edge of your hood, you don't require much throat depth. (I know THAT will get me flamed, right?)
Keep in mind that any louver work will have to be followed by quite a bit of re-shrinking and straightening to get the hood back to form and then you'll need to get it painted.

All in all, I'd really look hard at whether this mod is necessary for your rig in the climate here. You've got a really clean truck and this process is pretty ugly and involved when you consider the payoff.

If you need more throat depth- talk to Polak.:D
