Hello,

Just new on here. Can't see a separate 'Introduction' thread, so by way of introduction I have property west of Warwick Qld. One of my farm vehicles is Feb/1985 HJ75 ute, 2H diesel. I'm fitting a Thomas 8000lb PTO winch. I've fitted the winch & bar, have 2 x PTOs, one will go on the HJ75, but need advice on how to route the drive shaft from the PTO to the winch worm. The worm end facing back from the winch to the PTO has a single drive sproket & the drive shaft has a sprocket, with both sprockets meant to link with a single chain. The HJ75 has leaf springs & the front left spring & shackel blocks the drive shaft end from being attached to the bullbar. Have I got the wrong type of drive shaft for a leaf sping HJ75? Anyone have any pics of a similar fit? Anyone have an diagrams, or suggestions please?

cheers

Throw up some photo's of what you have.. Then it will make it easier for us to see your problem...
I have never seen a chain driven pto on a cruiser driven from the PTO...
Here are some links to a typical Toyota Pto winch setup...

Photo's thrown up - now you can't say you've never seen a chain driven pto on a cruiser. Have since been advised by Maurice Thomas former Thomas Winch Company (Qld) P/L now Archerfield Precision Engineering, aka Gears & Winches Moorooka http://www.winch.com.au/home and by Martin at Advanced Trailer Spares Coopers Plains http://www.atscables.com.au/ that the chain / sprocket final drive was fitted to some 40 series, but not 75 series. The fix is to replace the worm sprocket with a uni & sheer pin, remvoe the final drive sprocket & replace the final drive shaft with one about 40mm or so shorter. Thanks for the links. cheers

System won't let me post any more photos - it's saying I have 3 pics stored, whatever that means. Don't know how to clear stored pics. If someone can tell me how to clear them, then I'll be able to post the photo's of the chain drive. cheers

Host your photo's on a site like photobucket and then add the link as an xxxx [IMG]
and it will show in your post.... think there is a size limit like 600 x 800

I had a new thomis winch on a hj47 and mine had a sproket on the winch drive and the sharft and they used a dobble row chain to join them instead of a uni. The winch is now fitted to a HJ75 the same way.
