Has anyone been on a roadtrip to Prudhoe Bay, Ak?
If so what kind of things should be taken for this trip?

I have worked up there, but I flew and drove a short portion. I drove along the Dalton Highway which I am assuming you are asking about. I am sure hard core expeditioners will chime in, but at a minimum I would recommend dual spares, a satellite phone, a big bumper if you plan on driving when it's dark, big time lighting, lightforce/upgraded headlights, redundancy in everything because you are a long way from help. The actual driving is not hard at all, a stock 4wd truck is fine, but you want reliability and safety.

Kevin beat me to it..hopefully ^ proves to be a legitimate post and not a spamtard.

Good timing. My dad and I are planning on driving up there in early August. I'll be following both posts.

Thanks but my friends and I plan on doing this trip in the summer. I'm thinking spares for sure along with extra fuel for the last stretch to Prudhoe bay. Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Any other thoughts will be appreciated.

My wife and I drove from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay in July 2008. We used a 2006 Nissan Xterra that we rented at Fairbanks airport.
We didn't have any problems. The common precautions are flat tires and windshield cracks. If you have a vehicle with poor MPG you may want to bring some fuel tanks. We didn't need any but we did fill up on gasoline at every location it was available - Yukon River, Coldfoot and Deadhorse.

It was a great time. I saw people in rented Taurus' and similar size Dodge hatcbacks make it to Prudhoe.
