Hello all,
Don’t know if there is any interest in this project but thought I would start one in case any info I post helps someone in the future.
I purchased this 2004 4runner SR5 V8 2wd last fall. The paint was baked on it but it was a one owner with good records, runs really good, but does have 230k miles.

I realized too late that I took no pics of it before I started body work except for one of the front tire fit check. (Too big at current ride height.

First thing I did was replace the timing belt, alternator, water pump, air conditioning compressor, fan clutch, idler pulleys, belt, radiator, and AC condenser.
Then I drove it for a while. I bought some 5th gen wheels and painted those black and made custom center caps for them. Those will go on after paint is finished.

I started the prep for paint in March with goal of having it completed before it gets HOT here in southern Arizona. I took several pics showing the location of orange versus blue clips for all the side moulding.
I bought my clips from Amazon

My decision on color was based on the 2025 TRD Pro 4runner in Mudbath. My interior is tan and changing that isn’t an option so I wanted a color that will hopefully “fit” with the tan interior.

And tomorrow I will be spraying the black pieces. I am matching the TRD pro black accents with the exception of the wheel opening flares. I’ve seen pics of those painted black or other colors, and it’s not my cup of tea.
One reason I am doing this build thread is to share part numbers when I can.
For the inner fender liners in front fenders, all of the clips broke when removing it. I purchased 23 each of P/N 90189-A0002
